This war film is directed and produced by Christopher Nolan that showcases the Dunkirk evacuation of World War II. The plot of this movie is set during the Battle of France in the year 1940. The civilian sailor Dawson set to sail out on his boat in Weymouth along with his son Peter. Together they rescue a wounded soldier. Apollo 13

Watch the seventh crewed mission in the Apollo Space Program to the Moon. This spacecraft launched from Kennedy Space Center on April 11, 1970. However, the lunar landing was aborted after an oxygen tank failed to function after two days in the mission. After repeated routine check-ups, an oxygen tank ignited causing an explosion that vented the SM’s oxygen tanks to space. This led to a critical scenario where SM’s propulsion and life support systems could not operate. This caused the crew to do an emergency landing as a lifeboat. As the lunar landing project got cancelled, the mission controllers back on Earth worked on bringing back the crew home. The key astronauts in the mission were Jim Lovell, Jack Swigert, Edgar Mitchell.

Apollo 13 finally splashed down in the Pacific Ocean on April 17, 1970. The lives of the astronauts were saved by taking critical decisions in that life-threatening circumstances.

Ben Hur

This iconic historic drama film is directed by William Wyler. This movie is adapted from Lew Wallace’s 1880 novel Ben Hur: A Tale of Christ. This movie is one of the top-grossing films with a budget of 15 million dollars.

A Jewish prince is betrayed and sent to slavery by a Roman friend. Judah Ben Hur, a wealthy Jewish prince, and merchant in Jerusalem was living with his mother, sister, and servant during 26 AD. The family’s loyal slave, Simonides pays a visit with his daughter, Esther. When several years passed away from Jerusalem, Messala returns as the new commander of the Roman army. Messala believes in the Roman empire, while Judah is devoted to his faith and fighting for the freedom of the Jewish people.

This created a feud between Judah and his friends. This movie is set on the backdrop of the crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth. It is filled with the greatest historical events of all time. It also reveals the oppression of the Jewish people in the hands of the Roman soldiers. This eye-opening movie is a must-watch for learning about the roots of Jewish people and the events occurring during that time.

The King’s Speech

A 2010 historical drama film directed by Tom Hooper and written by David Sheidler. The role of King George VI is played by Colin Firth. This extraordinary film portrays the difficulty of the future king who had trouble speaking and stammered. An Australian speech therapist is assigned to help him to be an eloquent speaker.

This movie won the Oscar awards and Academy awards over the following years. The second son of King George V addresses the crowd with a strong stammer.
