What does your Skin Toner do for your Face?
What is a Skin Toner?
Skin toner is a beauty product that acts on skin, especially facial skin. This toner is extremely beneficial for those who want to tighten their skin pores. It adds an additional level of cleansing after routine washing and use of cleansers. It also helps in improving texture of facial skin and body skin. Different types of toners are used for different types of skins. So it is important to decide the toner after carefully identifying a person’s skin type.
Toners are available under different names in the market such as astringents, splashes and rejuvenators. They make the skin feel fresh and tingly. Some are having ingredients that tightens the skin pores and make the skin look younger. Typically, astringents help absorb excess oil on the surface of the skin while splashes and those that are designed to freshen the skin contain moisturizers or antioxidants.
How to choose the right toner?
Before one can add a toner to ones skin care kit, He/she must first consider his/her skin’s individual needs. If one has oily, acne-prone skin, for example, then he/she must not choose a toner that’s going to add a lot of moisture to the skin, as this will make the problem worse. If one struggle with dry patches on the face, he/she must avoid toners that are labeled “astringent,” as these may dry out the skin even further.
Many toners contain alcohol-based ingredients, and if one has dry skin, it’s important to read and compare ingredient lists to avoid products that include two or more ingredients that are derived from alcohol. This is also important if one has sensitive skin, as certain ingredients may cause irritation, redness, and rashes that might damage the skin in the long term.
While most toners aren’t specifically to clear the skin or prevent the signs of aging, the toner contains a number of antioxidants for this purpose. It has ingredients such as green tea extract, vitamin C,vitamin A. These ingredients all work to increase cell turnover while they seek out and destroy free radicals due to UV exposure.
Over time, this can result in fewer blemishes and smoother skin. Toners are great for refreshing the skin but they usually contain alcohol and perfume. Recommended toners are full of serums instead as they contain high concentrations of active ingredients.
