How do I Choose the Best Quality Power Bank?
Since power banks are growing so rapidly, it can be difficult to know what type of power bank is best for you and it can be difficult to even know what to look for with a power bank. With that said, there are now lots of companies on the market that now make power banks and this resulted in there being quite a lot of types of them.
That is why I’ll be going over the main aspects of a power bank that you should know and keep a lookout for when you’re going to purchase a portable charger.
How Portable and Powerful you Want your Power Bank to Be
A power bank is built around its power capacity, otherwise, it wouldn’t be portable in the first place. The power capacity accounts for two things that will take major effects when you actually use it and they are the size and a number of charges that you’re able to give your devices. So this brings us to the two main types of power banks on the market.
There are ones that have low power capacities and those are the ones that have power capacities of 3,000mAh to 5,000mAh. Since they have such low power capacities, most of the time they just use a single battery and that results in the power bank being very small; that’s the main reason that these power banks are used the most. They’re so small that they’re able to fit into your pocket and you’re also able to hold them for long periods of time without any problems.
With all that said, as convenient to use as small power banks are since they have low power capacities, it means that they’re meant for smartphones. Smartphones are going to charge once or twice most of the time and then the power bank will need a recharge.
The other major type of power bank are ones that have high power capacities and these ones aren’t used as much as ones with low power capacities. The reason for that is because these power banks are using larger batteries and there are more batteries being used. As a result, the size of the power bank is larger and heavier. So these won’t exactly fit into your pocket.
For all other purposes though, these power banks are better than Mini ones. The reason for that is because a high power capacity of 20,000mAh to 30,000mAh is able to charge most smartphones and tablets multiple times to their full power and the power bank is still able to have power left over. They also have many USB charging ports that allow you to charge multiple devices at once.
Charging and Recharging
When it comes to charging in general, you want your charging to be fast and the same goes for power banks. Most Mini power banks have slow Output charging, which is the charging that your devices receive. With that said, charging speeds are most important to know if you’re getting a power bank that uses multiple USB charging ports because you want each of the devices to charge at fast charging speeds so you can unplug and be on your way.
For the most part, a 2 Amp charging speed for a power bank that has multiple USB charging ports is the best starting speed. Of course, there are better speeds such as 2.4 Amps, which is the max standard charging speed that’s able to charge most smartphones and tablets at max speeds.
Then you have to consider special charging technologies such as Quick Charge or USB-C, because if you own compatible smartphones that are able to use those technologies then it’s best to purchase a power bank that uses them.
Input Charging (Recharging)
Then there’s the recharging that’s equally as important as the Output charging because it determines how fast you’re able to use your power bank again. For the most part, Mini power banks have slow recharging speeds since they have less power to recover.
However, when it comes to high capacity power banks that’s when recharging matters more because you don’t want to be waiting for days for a full recharge. So if a power bank does have a 20,000mAh or beyond then it’s best that it uses 2 Input ports to recharge at double the speed. There are also some power banks that use Quick Charge or USB-C tech to recharge.
Brand that you’re Purchasing from
The last and most important aspect of purchasing a power bank is knowing who you’re purchasing it from. The reason for that is because there are lots of companies on the market; as result, it means that there are quite a few that sell low-quality power banks. These companies can claim that their power banks feature fast charging speeds and small sizes that are able to fit into your pocket. But in reality, their power banks have slow charging speeds and the sizes are actually quite large and heavy.
So it’s important to take a close look at the specifications of power banks to know what it’s capable of. What’s also important is to take a close look at product reviews to get an idea of how past customers have experienced the portable charger.
